Junshin (順信)

Junshin (year of birth unknown, died on April 20, 1250) was a priest of Jodo Shinshu (the True Pure Land Sect of Buddhism) who lived in the mid Kamakura period. He was one of 24 direct disciples of Shinran. His secular name was Nobuhiro KATAOKA. He was the third in 24 direct disciples.

Nobuchika KATAOKA, who was his father and held the title of daiguji (high priest of a great shrine) of Kashima-myojin in Hitachi Province, became a follower of Shinran, and made Junshin a disciple of Shinran. Muryouju-ji Temple is its historic site. In his last years, he engaged in missionary work in the Kansai region on orders from Shinran, and its historic site is Bussho-ji Temple in Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture.
